Alex and Ro's wedding was the kind that leaves you driving home with a great big grin on your face!
The fabulous Myre's Castle was the setting and from the moment I entered the grounds and saw the two hippo's popping out of the pond, I knew this was going to be a super fun gig.
Alex and Ro first laid eyes on each other over the head of Tracy; a plastic demonstration doll. Both Anaesthetist's, Ro was teaching a anaesthetics course which Alex was attending but it was a good while before they had their first date, which went extremely well. That was followed by many more, enjoying good food, gigs and games of drunken pool!
They discovered a shared love of music and travel, attending weddings in various countries overseas, along with camping trips and music festivals. They fell in love with each others family and friends and discovered each other's secrets - namely how much beer Ro could drink and how many points Alex had on his driving licence! After moving in together even the disclosure of Ro's excessive collection of kitchenware and Alex's lycra cycling outfits didn't put them off!
After Alex popped the question on a romantic holiday in Iceland, they began to plan their wedding. And what a wedding it was! It's always a real treat when couples apply their creativity and imagination to put their own stamp all over it. Ro and Alex included so many little touches which truly set their ceremony apart.
They asked a friend to read the fantastic poem 'Mouthful of Forever's by Clementine Von Radics. They put together their own vows and shared why they love each other, in a way that balanced brilliant humour and heartfelt emotion.
They graffiti'd their hand fasts before the ceremony with different messages and text making it wonderfully personal and also giving them a extra special keepsake.
And their ceremony ended with a series of unexpected 'pop up' movie quotes about love, delivered perfectly by their secretly instructed friends and much to the surprise and delight of fellow guests. This photo captures the brilliant delivery of a quote from Wayne's World, complete with hat and wig!
It was great to work once again with Lukas from Catching the Moments Photography who captured the love and happiness of the day perfectly.
And to top it all off, Ro and Alex send me such a wonderful thank you afterwards saying 'you helped make our ceremony quite simply one of the most amazing days of our lives...we'll feel forever lucky we found you!'
The feeling is mutual!
