Candice Dillen
Humanist Celebrant in Scotland
I'm Candice and I found my dream job in 2014 when I became a Humanist Celebrant.

I have an Edinburgh born husband, two lively kids, a dog and a cat. A very grumpy cat. Since I began in this role, I’ve conducted hundreds of humanist ceremonies, every single one of them unique. And I’ve met lots of amazing folk along the way.

I love being told stories. I love sharing other people's memories, hopes and dreams. No matter the type of ceremony - funeral, wedding or naming, I’m honoured to be given a window into the lives of others; what I find there is always the same thing - the love people have for each other.

My goal in every ceremony is to be absolutely true to the person or the couple. To capture their personality, in the writing, in the creative elements, in the delivery on the day. And also to support people through the ceremony, calmly with warmth, humour, kindness and compassion.

What else?

I love cooking and baking, I own way too many cookbooks. I love music, live gigs, watching my husband play guitar and sometimes joining him in a song. I love a good dance - in a club, at a party or around my pals living room. I love coffee; I’m a coffee junkie!

I also really love the sunshine and though Scotland doesn’t give me quite enough of that, I forgive it, because there is no better place to be!
